Forum frustrations
I recently switched from Reddit to Lemmy based on a comment I read on r/selfhosted asking how r/thedonald can selfhost but r/selfhosted can't. I found this so ironic that I slowly moved towards Lemmy, deleted my Reddit, and began to learn how to better selfhost public sites. At first I found Lemmy pretty quiet but have somewhat enjoyed it's slower pace as I continue to use it.
One issue I have found, that is more prevalent on Reddit, is that of toxic admins and mods. the ability for mods to ban without any appeal process. If you do something the mods don't like they can remove you without reason. Many big Lemmy coms' mods are also their instance admins. If that's the case there's really nothing users can do if they get banned or their posts get removed but find a different com or make a new account.
This seems to be the case for most forums. There needs to be a method for community users to vote against a mod or maybe even admin's decisions and even their positions within the community.
